6 Day Work Weeks, 3 Day Weekends, Holiday Routes, and Such

It's labor day weekend friends, the unofficial end of summer. I realized today as I pulled a full pallet of 30 pack cans across Foodland 10 at 4 o'clock in the afternoon that merchandising for a beer company often means we do not partake of the festivities where beer is a staple as efficiently as those who have jobs where there is such a thing as a 3 day weekend. Now, I'm not tryna complain because I love my job, but seriously! No one seriously needs this much beer! And surely, after picking up beer and putting it back down all ... day ... long ... 6 days a week, the last thing I want to do is drink any.

Since we work independently, our day runs as quickly as we let it. Festivities await either way. I may not be the fastest merch, but I try my best to be thorough. That said, if you're buying beer in Mililani, Haleiwa, Pearl City, or Waipio this weekend, trust that your choices will be in proper rotation. Oh, and how about let's buy Monster by the 4 pack instead of by the single can??

Enjoy Responsibly

Time Cannot Erase

It's sort of ironic that Adele's "Someone Like You" would play on Pandora as soon as I began this blog!

Women always hope that if and when they run into an ex they don't have something stuck in their teeth or that they're not wearing pjs with their hair a mess or something borderline horrific like that. Basically, women hope to be looking their best should that opportunity ever arise. If the end of the relationship was fairly recent, women generally hope their ex is worse off than they are too, though they'll say otherwise. Time does heal, or at the very least, helps us to let go.

I heard it said many years ago that Love, is wanting the other person to be happy even if it's not with you. I scoffed. Pff! Nobody wants that. Haha it is absolutely true in mature hindsight.

Today I ran into an old love of mine, from a lifetime ago. And, I'm happy to report from a vanity stand point, I am the thinnest and healthiest I have Ever been in my life - thank you, Anheuser-Busch!! My hair was flat ironed, my glasses were on straight, and I was feeling, Sunshiney, like every day in this new life that is mine. I will never wear those Budweiser issued uniform pants, MY black pants are SO much better :) He looked so good too: fit like I remember, and that same amazing smile I could never get enough of. After pleasantries and quick hugs, I excused myself to get back to work. It was really nice to see him again.

But I'm wanting to write not because I succeeded at not looking like Rubbish at the moment where so many women fail, but because I am honestly happy that I ran into him. I'm happy to have known and loved him and to have been loved by him. To quote JaRule and JLo, "it was our time even if it was part time." It is enough, just to know that he is well.

In my short life I have learned that there are many kinds of love:
The kind that's young and foolish.
The kind that's comfy and safe and taken for granted.
The kind that's addictive and passionate.
The kind that's frustrating.
The kind that angers you beyond anything you knew was in you.
The kind that gets away.
And the kind you let go because it was the best choice for both of you.

Not everything happens for a reason but there is always a lesson to be learned. How we interpret it and what we take away from it, that's on us. Being selfLess is by far the greatest love we can feel isn't it?

Jah is Love, friends :)

Stocker.

= Draft begun November 14, 2011 =
November 2nd marked my 2nd anniversary with BRFS.
I hadn't ever stepped foot in that store until the day I walked in and asked for an application. I went seeking seasonal retail employment for only 6 weeks and 2 years later, I am still there. This photo graces the cover of our in store newsletter with my name beneath "Associate of the Month" for October for all my hard work and ownership of the backroom as a stocker. I enjoy saying that I'm a stocker. I actually quite enjoy being a stocker as well. I like to look at the sales floor when I leave for the day, see it maxed out, and know that I did my part to drive business. I didn't ever feel that at my last retail job where I was a cashier. I was good at that job but I didn't feel a sense of accomplishment upon leaving. When I was done, I was done.

= Fast forward to August 2012 =

As of July I am no longer with BRFS. My last day came and went as if I had never existed. Nearly three years of hard work and dedication and filling the shoes of the repeatedly vacant supervisory position and I wasn't given the courtesy of a simple goodbye. I would have accepted a "fck off!" as well.

Ahwell, c'est la vie. Things are often better on the other side!
